69 Mustang
Welcome to
sixtynine mustang
This site is dedicated to all things related to the 1969 Ford Mustang. On this site, you’ll find facts, articles, videos and more related to the production of the 299,824 Mustangs sold in 1969.
On this site, you’ll also see the restoration story of Sparky, my own ’69 coupe. A ’69 convertible has recently entered the family and is under restoration. Stick around to see more on that.
Feel free to reach out! I love collaborating, not just on ’69 Mustangs, but on all vintage cars.
Hope you enjoy!
How it all started
I grew up in the suburbs of New Orleans in the 70s and 80s. It was always hot and humid. Part of that growing up was was my mom’s yellow (New Lime) ’69 Mustang. My dad bought it for her in 1970. We went everywhere in that car. I think back to the black (Dark Ivy) vinyl seats. Those seats fused with the backs of our legs every time we got in under the blazing summer sun.
Sadly that car was riddled with rust and had been in a bad head on collision. Once it was repaired, it was never the same. The window glass was always falling inside the door, no matter how many times my dad re-glued it. My mom drove it for a few years and eventually it was replaced by a ’74 Cutlass Supreme.
Below are a few shots of that old car. It was a “plain Jane” coupe. 302 2bbl automatic. It had the visibility group which included dual sport mirrors and hood scoop with integrated turn signal indicators. I never stopped loving that car and dreamed of having one of my own some day.
